Hello,

I am Trace Davidson and I have been a photographer for as long as I can remember! I am based in Timaru where I have spent most of my life, apart from a few years spent in Oamaru. Pets and Wildlife are my passion, my happy place. I love to be outdoors in nature taking in every sound, smell and experience that surrounds me.

When I was very young I had this cute wee blue and green camera that talked when you pulled the string! I loved that thing! I’m pretty sure it went everywhere with me. Then through my teens I puddled around photographing anything that moved - especially my pets! I must have 1000’s of photos of them all.

Things stepped up a notch when my husband starting racing Moto Cross. I began Photographing MX events at regular race days which soon turned into a full-time job following MX events all around the country and reporting for National Magazines and alongside covering several other Motorsport events for the local papers. I did this for several years and then decided it was time for a change and turned to Wedding and Portrait Photography. I adored being a part of such a special day in people’s lives and thrived in the busyness and excitement of the day.

While Photographing Portraits I also covered some Dog Agility events where again I thrived on the speed and action of the old MX days!

So now I find myself after a few years break and my children getting older re-finding my passion behind the lens.

As I said above pets and Wildlife are my passion and with that in mind I have found myself creating Wild Whiskers Photography. What’s better than being able to Photograph our beautiful furry friends every-day of the week! You will often find me out checking out the light on the faces of the sheep next door, my own pets in the paddock, the magpies chatting away in the mornings … you get the idea! Like us they definitely have attitude and I love to be able to portray that and all of their unique expressions through the lens.
